Christmas in Keighley

Christmas celebrations begin in Keighley with the Christmas lights switch on which takes place on Thursday 19th November on Church Green. See Santa switch on the lights with his little helpers at 6.30pm. 

The Pulse will be providing the entertainment with presenter Marc Henry from the daytime show leading the proceedings and ventriloquist Gareth Oliver from Britain’s Got Talent 2009. 

Taking part in the switch on this year is The Inspiration choir, a hundred strong group of singers, who will entertain with a mixture of music old and new with a Christmas theme. Also appearing will be the Arbeau Dancers, Phil Fluke, Nessfield Primary School singer’s and there will be  competitions and prizes to be won. 

The run up to the festivities continues with numerous events in and around the town. From late November and throughout December the popular Santa Specials will run on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.  

December 13th sees a Fresh & Organic Christmas Market followed at 2.00pm by the annual Civic Carol Service which attracts large numbers of people and will be held on Church Green, outside the parish church, for the first time since its inception. 

Other events in the area include Oh….Whistle! Ghostly Tales of Mr James at East Riddlesden Hall – Keighley’s National Trust property.
