Sheep Cred

Monday, October 19, 2009

Keighley Arts Factory will be driving a flock of sheep into the town centre and launching Shorn Keighley, an exciting new arts event.

2010 will see Keighley town filled with a flock of life sized sheep sculptures, each decorated in the style of a famous artist. Each sheep will be decorated by a school or a community group with the assistance of an artist. Shorn Keighley will link into the summer festivals and will be a fun arts project.

Keighley Arts Factory will host competitions to name the sheep and will keep you updated via its blog “Sheep Cred” at http://shornkeighley.blogspot.com  where you can follow Shorn on its adventures around Keighley.

The project is supported by Keighley Campus part of Leeds City College and  has been match funded by Keighley Area Co-ordinators office through the Keighley Future Heritage Initiative.

Rifat Bashir Project co-ordinator said "Local businesses will be sponsoring the sheep: each sheep will become the property of the sponsor at the end of the project.  Local businesses can provide a plaque to be displayed with the sheep bearing their company name. We anticipate this project will be a great promotional tool for your business".
